Homeless Eagles

http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/paperfrmes.html

Summary

The super eagles’ captain, Kanu Nwankwo claimed that the super eagles do not have a place they called their home. He said this after the 1-0 win over the Cranes of Uganda last Saturday. He complains about playing matches in various grounds will not help the super eagles. They should have or be given a particular ground where all the matches would be played as other countries are doing.

View point
Positive: Kanu Uwankwo makes a good complaint. As a captain who wants the best for his country would definitely did the same thing. Unlike when Austin Jay Jay Okocha was the captain, he did make such complaint. The NFA should treat this complaint with full respect and let the Nigeria football come to it peak

Negative: To begin with, take a look at what happen to Nigeria against Angola in the qualification for last year world cup. The match was surpose to take place at the Abuja stadium but the NFA shifted it to Kaduna were there is a high humidity. The players could not play their best and Nigeria lost the match. The defeat presented a way out for the eagles not to participate in the last year world cup. It is a shame for a country like Nigeria not to have a specifics ground for their home game.

Resolution/conclusion

During that game between Nigeria and Uganda, the players really saw hell. Nigeria was lucky to found the net. The pitch was bad. Both teams couldn’t play their best. The player could not hold the ball for long. They lose the ball easily because of the bad pitch. NFA should please sort out this problem out so that the players would have a good atmosphere to play their home game.

Corruption is threat to free, fair elections – Ribadu

http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200703271581045

Summary

Mr. Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the chairman of Economy and Financial crime Commission, stated that corruption would not give way for free and fair election. He lamented that the corrupt political aspirant who are seeking for power would never allowed free and fair election to take place in this country.

He also reflected on the way primaries were conducted. “In the big political parties go and see what happened at their primaries and you call it a free -and –fair election? (Corrupt politicians) have the resources to manipulate. Go and see how they buy officials – the police, INEC and the party.” He said.

View point
Positive: Mr. Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, EFCC chairman have spoken the truth. Take a look at it, if these corrupt politicians are given a way to contest for the forthcoming election, forget it, there would be no way for free and fair election.

Look at the common primaries; they are already buying their way in. They are corrupt so there is nothing to do about it they already inherits the trait of corruption. God knows were they inherit it from, May be from their corrupt father who has been in power before. In Nigeria power is inheritable. So who knows?

Negative: The independent electoral commissions (INEC) are a disgrace to this democracy and disappointment to the masses. We the masses have build our hope and trust on INEC,they promise to conduct a free and fair election but they have fall woefully to the hand of politician.

They forget so soon the effort they input to make sure there is a free and fair election; the introduction of voters’ machine and the registration card with photograph, but they lost all these effort just because of money. It is a big shame to them.

Resolution/conclusion
“We are face with elections and we are going to confront it. Some of the people have stolen so much. They have immunity today and they are going to buy immunity for the next four years. If you allow that, we are done for.”

This statement concluded everything. The advice I have for the masses is to stay in their various home on the day of election. There is no need of voting for the INEC already know the candidate they want. So going out to vote will be a waist of time.

No going back on poll — Iwu

http://www.punchng.com/Article-print.aspx?theartic=Art200703222501259

Summary

The INEC chairman, Prof. Maurine Iwu, claimed that nothing is going to stop them notto conduct the April poll. He stated this when he was speaking to a group of journalists in Abuja. He also said the coming election would be free and fair and the process for the election would be paper ballot system and voters’ photograph would be assign to the card. Also the result would be taken to various centres where the result would be announced except the presidential that would be announced in Abuja. He said.

Positive point

The use of voters’ card with photograph would be very good for the election and the use of electronics machine. These will prevent voters’ for voting more than one time. Rigging of election will be totally wiped away from the April poll. I still advice the INEC to take proper care and be vigilant during the election. They should send reliable security to every centre where the election is conducted.

Negative point

I still not bide the idea of voters’ car with photograph. The reason is that, we are in Nigeria ill everything is possible. People can still maneuver this card to ring the election despite the electronic machine. There are many bad politicians out there doing nothing but busy planning on how to hack into the machine. INEC be ware and be at alert.

Resolution/conclusion

“INEC had put in place measures that would make the election not only credible but free and fair” it sound nice and reliable but remember that this election is going to free and fair not because of the electronics machine and the voters’ card, but note that 90% of either the election is going to be free and fair or not lays on the INEC. They had the final saying. So it is time for the INEC to prove their self right if they are good or corrupt. Because we Nigeria have be hearing this kind of worlds for the last decade. At the end things remain what they are
